Marriott International has officially launched its new Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy, following its acquisition of Postcard Cabins and partnership with Trailborn Hotels late last year.
The new portfolio launches with more than 1,200 Postcard Cabins across 29 U.S. locations as well as several Trailborn properties in destinations like the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Grand Canyon and Wrightsville Beach, N.C.?
According to Marriott, Outdoor Collection properties offer outdoor-focused and design-forward stays, while also providing standard hotel amenities like hot running water and dedicated restrooms.?
Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors launched
Concurrently, the company has debuted Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors, a new digital platform that enables travelers to search for and book stays centered around outdoor experiences and activities like skiing, hiking, surfing, diving and paddling. The platform encompasses more than 450 Marriott hotels, 50,000 Homes & Villas properties and a curated selection of tours and activities.
In addition to Outdoor Collection accommodations, the Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors platform lists properties like the W Verbier in Switzerland, the Moxy Banff in Canada and the Grand Bohemian Lodge Asheville, Autograph Collection in North Carolina.?
To commemorate the platform's launch, Marriott has partnered with TV personality and outdoorsman Dylan Efron to introduce the Drop Pin Challenge, a treasure hunt involving physical pins placed in 20 outdoor destinations across the U.S. and Canada, including Yellowstone, the Catskills, Maui, Banff and Whistler. Participants can visit the Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors website to get clues and coordinates for each location, then head outside to find and scan the pins. The first 50 people to scan each pin earn 10,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, with 10 million total points available.
Marriott's new collection and digital platform come amid a wave of investment within outdoor hospitality. Last year, Hyatt Hotels Corp. partnered with glamping brand Under Canvas, while Hilton linked with AutoCamp to make its Airstream suites and luxury tents bookable via Hilton's channels. Numerous newcomers, like Outbound Hotels, Loge Camps and Field & Stream Lodge Co., have also entered the space in recent years.
